Julia Hudson (she/her)

Proprietor | Stylist | Colour Specialist

My formal training as a stylist took place in Victoria in 1997, although I’ve been working in salons since I was in my early teens and believe I was born crazy about hair and all things to do with it! I have had the good fortune during my 25+ years in the industry to work with some amazingly talented stylists. It is from them that I developed my passion for hair into a full on love affair with the industry. I am 100 percent committed to providing each individual guest with a personalized experience by helping them translate their visions for their hair into beautiful reality.

My work as a Certified Technical Assistant for Joico has offered me the opportunity to travel and educate. Training in New York was a true inspiration, although I remain inspired daily by keeping in touch with trends in fashion and through teaching, which allows me to constantly interact and share with my peers in the industry. I am passionately committed to continually expanding on my extensive training in order to provide the most relevant looks to my clientele as well as keep myself inspired as an artist.

I also possess an interest in print work styling, and was published in a widely circulated North American hair magazine, as well as being published in an industry spread book. March 2004 I opened Sigma Squared Salon, finally realizing a longtime goal and dream of mine. My aim was to create an open, inviting environment for the guest, as well as provide a relaxed, inspired space for us to create in. As a team, I really believe that we’ve accomplished that! Call us to book a free personalized consultation. We’d love to work with you!

Tara Croft (she/her)

Stylist | Colour Specialist

I am so fortunate to be able to find a career that allows me creative freedom as an artist. I have a passion for my work that many people do not get to experience and for that I feel very lucky! I was trained in Calgary, but my life is in Victoria and it is here that I came to stay.

I have been a stylist for over 20 years (okay…maybe longer in my mind…as my bald Barbies and poor siblings can attest) and in that time I have endeavoured to learn as much as I can, to stay current with fashion trends and new techniques, to keep my clients happy! I try to give my clients the personal attention that they deserve and believe that making people feel better about themselves is one of the most important aspects of my work.

I have worked on several photo shoots and I have had my editorial work published in an industry spread book and a local fashion magazine. I believe that to really learn something you should teach it to others and had those opportunities as part of being an educator in the industry.

Focusing on my clients now, I am looking forward to sharing my inspirations with them, making sure each one comes away from my chair looking their best, feeling their best. I have worked in some great spaces and with some great stylists in Victoria but I can say that the last eight years at SigmaSquared have been the best in my career.

We have created the type of atmosphere that is a pleasure to work in and, we believe, a pleasure to be in. We are all creative, talented and have a desire to see you make the impression you were meant to make…we look forward to seeing you soon.

(they/them)

Stylist | Colour Specialist

Daryl has always been a creative person at heart; they have been drawing and creating other forms of art as long as they can remember, and prior to hair school they attended post secondary for creative writing.

Daryl moved to Victoria shortly after completing their formal hairstylist training in Vancouver, and has been happily creating beautiful hair on the island since early 2014.  They love working with colour and especially enjoy doing full cut-and-colour makeovers.

Helping people feel beautiful is their passion, and they have found that hairstyling has provided them not only an outlet for their creativity, but also an opportunity to meet and connect with a variety of humans that truly excites them.

As a member of the Victoria Pride Society, Daryl strives to create a space where people of any identity and expression can feel comfortable in their chair; they are very excited to offer gender neutral pricing!  Whether you are coming in for your regular refresh or a full hair makeover, they are excited to help you bring out the best in your hair.

Salon Manager

Known lovingly as 'The Major' to us,  Mandy makes things happen at Sigma Squared.  She is the master of bookings, time management, and all things detail oriented. She brings with her  years of experience in Small Business Management and Accounting,  as well as heaps of experience in the Hospitality Industry.

Mandy is instrumental in helping keep everything organized and running smoothly both in front and behind the scenes.  We often joke we'd be without roof, client or foil without her efforts.  She has an infectious smile, an interested ear and on a good day...she might even show you some of her sweet dance moves!
